Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the MSG.AI official website (https://wsmsg.me) and the MSG.AI Chrome extension (“the Extension”). The Extension is provided by an independent developer and adds translation, AI-assisted replies, contact backup, and optional customer-messaging tools to WhatsApp Web.

2. Information We Collect

We minimize the collection and storage of personal data and only process what is necessary to provide the service.

2.1 Data Stored Locally in Your Browser

  • Contact and conversation exports you create;
  • Customer-messaging task settings (e.g. message content, delay settings);
  • Task progress and history (success/failure status, timestamps);
  • Extension preferences (e.g. UI language).

This data is stored only in your browser’s chrome.storage.local and is not uploaded to any server. You can clear it at any time via your browser’s site data settings.

2.2 AI Translation and Reply Processing

AI processing occurs only when you actively request a translation or generate an AI reply. To produce the requested result, the Extension sends the necessary source text and, for replies, the conversation context and knowledge-base content you choose to use through the MSG.AI API to an AI model provider.

MSG.AI does not intentionally write AI request content to its license or operational-analytics storage. The content is still transmitted for processing, and the AI provider's handling is subject to its own service terms and privacy practices. Do not submit sensitive information that is not needed for the requested result.

2.3 License and Account Data

To provide trial and Pro licensing, our license service (e.g. on Cloudflare Workers) may store:

  • Email address (if you provide it when registering or recovering a license);
  • Generated license key;
  • Current plan (e.g. trial, pro_monthly, pro_yearly);
  • Creation time, expiry, and basic order information (no full payment card details).

2.4 Operational Usage Analytics

For system administration, reliability monitoring, and product planning, the Extension sends privacy-minimized operational analytics for registered licenses:

  • Extension version and interface language;
  • An active heartbeat while the top-level WhatsApp Web tab is visible;
  • The currently signed-in WhatsApp phone number, used to associate operational counts with the correct licensed user;
  • Aggregate counts for bulk-send successes, AI replies, translations, and export actions.

Analytics does not include chat content, prompts, source text, translated text, conversation context, contacts, group details, exported files, or a full browser User-Agent. Counts and the current WhatsApp number are linked to your license record; the operational dashboard is restricted to authorized system administrators.

3. How We Use Information

We use the above information only to:

  • Verify your license and subscription status;
  • Improve the product (using aggregated, de-identified data where relevant);
  • Allow authorized system administrators to measure active installations and feature adoption;
  • Send you license or service-related emails when you request them.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising unrelated to the Extension.

4. Storage and Security

4.1 Local Data

Task and message data stays in your browser. You can delete it anytime via your browser’s clear-data options.

4.2 Server Data

License-related data and optional usage analytics are stored on infrastructure such as Cloudflare Workers and KV. Daily analytics detail is limited to a rolling operational window; aggregate totals and latest activity may be retained until deletion is requested or no longer needed. We use reasonable measures to protect it but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Please keep your license key and account email confidential.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use:

  • AI model providers, only when you request an AI translation or AI-assisted reply;
  • Google Sign-In (only if you choose it) to link your Google ID and email to your license;
  • Payment providers (e.g. PayPal, Gumroad, LemonSqueezy) for orders and subscriptions.

Payment details are handled directly by payment providers. We do not see or store your full payment information. AI providers process the content required to return the requested result. Please review the applicable providers' privacy policies.

6. Your Rights

You may request to access, correct, or delete your data (subject to legal and operational requirements). Contact us using the email in the site footer.

7. Minors

The Extension is not directed at minors. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, please use it only with a guardian’s consent.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the product or the law changes. We will indicate material changes on the site when practical.

Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
